South Africa’s Magnificent Wildlife and National Parks
For many people, a trip to Africa means only one thing – safari. The chance to get up close and personal with a variety of wild animals is an unbeatable experience. South Africa certainly offers a lot in this regard, since not only does the country have a large number of both public and private game reserves and national parks, but the majority of the country is a malaria-free zone. South Africa’s parks and game reserves are generally easy to access, well-developed and good examples of conservation efforts. No trip to the country would be complete without a visit to at least one of South Africa’s national parks.
There are a large number of National Parks in South Africa which deserve a mention. The Kruger National Park is most likely the first example that comes to mind. However, the Pilanesburg National Park, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park, the Augrabies Falls National park, the Tsitsikamma National Park and the Karoo National Park are just a few other great parks that can be found around the country.
Some South African national parks, such as the Addo Elephant Park, the Bontebok National Park and the Mountain Zebra National Park, specialize in one specific type of animal. However, this does not mean they are at all limited in what they have to offer, since the survival of a particular species and habitat generally depends on the co-habitation of a variety of plant and animal species. What’s more, these national parks often span a large area of ground which may incorporate more than one ecological zone into its boundaries. This means you can enjoy the magic of fynbos combined with the allure of coastal shrubbery and the coolness of the seas or evergreen forests with the pure crispness of mountain lakes. Adventure awaits in the National Parks of South Africa.
