Italian Trade Commission in South Africa
By means of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, the Italian government oversees the promotion of trade and business opportunities, as well as industrial co-operation between Italian companies and companies in foreign lands. Forming part of a network of 117 offices in 87 countries around the world, the Italian Trade Commission located in Parkwood, Johannesburg, aims to promote the trade of Italian products and services in South Africa under the 'Made in Italy' brand. The Italian Institute for Foreign trade receives funding from Italy's Ministry of International Trade, as well as the Italian companies which make use of its services.
Among its many services, the Italian Trade Commission office provides information regarding the Italian market and business opportunities available, a basic overview of the Italian economy, and information on Italy’s national trade policies. Up-to-date information is available regarding laws and regulations applicable to foreign investments and assistance is on hand for potential foreign investors. From the marketing point of view, the Italian Trade Commission provides details of trade fairs and exhibitions held throughout Italy each year, as well as providing access to market research. So the first port of call for a South African company exploring the possibility of trade with Italy would be to visit the Italian Trade Commission, 42 Chester Road, Parkwood, Johannesburg.
