  • 'toe', 'te', 'aan', en 'om' vraag

There are so many words for 'to'. How do you know when to use which?

It's complicated ;-) and I am not Afrikaans speaking. Just semi-conversationally bilingual.

    "toe" can also mean closed.

Maak die deur toe - close the door.

Ek gaan winkel toe - I'm going to the shop.

"te" is the word for "too"

Dis te warm vandag - it's too hot today.

Not sure about "aan" en "om" - would need a sentence to see the context.
Freedom's just another word for 'nothing left to lose' ...

You're bi? Hey don't worry about it; it's politically incorrect now for anyone to make fun of you.

"aan" - Ek stuur 'n brief aan hom - I'm sending a letter to him.

"om te" - Ek hou daarvan om te sing - I like to sing.

Now if only the original poster would actually respond and acknowledge our effort, this would have been worth it.
