  • English speaking Children attending Afrikaans Schools

I am faced with a situation where there are no English speaking schools in our area. So now I am been faced with sending my son who is in Grade R to a Afrikaans speaking School. I am interested in hearing comments about this.

English speaking Children attending Afrikaans Schools

The point of concern is adapting to a different language at school and what effects this could have. There are many examples of Afrikaans attending English schools but no found examples of the opposite. Some people seem to think it is a good thing and benefits them whilst others seem to think it disadvantages the child.
Our Idea is a Afrikaans Junior School and then changeover to an English High School later. Whilst continuing to speak English at Home.
My Wife is Afrikaans and I am English so we are in hope that we will be able to maintain a smoother balance in his life.
