Rustenburg – Historical and Cultural Attractions within Beautiful Nature

Located at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range in South Africa’s North West Province, the city of Rustenburg, with its picturesque Jacaranda-lined streets lies in the heart of the Bojanala Region. Rustenburg incorporates the natural attractions of the Magaliesberg Mountains and bushveld vegetation supporting a wide range of game and birdlife, as well as a host of fascinating historical and cultural attractions.

The geological history of the area is said to date back some 2,300 million years and the Rustenburg Museum presents the history, culture and natural wonders of Rustenburg (meaning ‘town of rest’). Other attractions in Rustenburg include President Paul Kruger’s historical farm Boekenhoutfontein, the Rustenburg Nature Reserve and the Rustenburg Ramble incorporating farm stalls, art & craft galleries and dining venues. The nearby Pilanesberg National Park is home to the famed ‘Big 5’.
