Two Oceans Aquarium – An Underwater Wonderland

Located in the popular V&A Waterfront complex, the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town offers visitors a unique and exciting look at the fascinating world beneath the waves. This charming marine nature reserve, which is home to more than 3,000 living sea creatures, aims to entertain the public, while at the same time educating visitors on the importance of respecting and conserving natural marine resources.

The Two Oceans Aquarium – named in honor of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans that collide at the southern tip of the Western Cape – uses six unique galleries to highlight different aspects of South Africa’s abundant and varied aquatic life. These include the contrast between marine life found in the warm Indian Ocean and that found in the cold Atlantic Ocean, a kelp forest exhibit and a predator exhibit.

The aquarium offers a well organized children’s play area with loads of exciting activities aimed at keeping the kiddies entertained, and special events are held throughout the year, especially during holiday seasons. Visitors with Padi Open Water One or Discover Scuba qualifications can experience the adrenaline rush of diving with ragged-tooth sharks, rays and other predatory sea animals. There is no doubt that a visit to Cape Towns Two Oceans Aquarium opens up an underwater wonderland that is well worth exploring.
