1466 in YOUNG WINSTON

Colour slides (scanned at 900dpi) taken of the location filming of rail scenes for the 1972 Columbia Pictures/Open Road production of "Young Winston". The GWR loco 1466 was disguised to represent an armoured loco of the Boer War. Weather was sometimes wet but camera techniques dealt with that problem. The whole experience was enjoyable- even did a firing turn on the final day's run up to Penwyllt. The movie was produced by Carl Foreman (who generously treated us all to food and drink in the Price's Arms on completion) and directed by Richard Attenborough. Suggest buying the DVD (Sony Home Entertainment) to see the results of everyone's efforts. Latest information- went to the Price's Arms a week ago, hoping to get some food and drink- it was closed down!!
