60009 hauling ‘The North Wales Coast Express’ 29-07-2012

The original plan for Sunday July 29th 2012 was to head down to the Midlands to take some footage of The Shakespeare Express, however due to the poor weather conditions, combined with decorating part of the house, meant this had to be postponed to a later date, and the planned shot of The Railway Touring Company's 'North Wales Coast Express' was brought forward to fill the gap. With Ex-LNER 'A4' no. 60009 'Union of South Africa' at the head for the second week running, the tour departed from Liverpool Lime Street, running along the Liverpool & Manchester Railway as far as Earlestown, before heading south to Warrington, Chester and North Wales. Here we see 60009 accelerating from its stop at Broad Green, powering through the stations at Roby and Huyton during a brief respite from the continuous rainfall, with NRM owned class 47 no. 47798 'Prince William' on the rear of the formation.
