The School of Achievement (Prestasie) from Germiston came to the Dome to find out about the biggest explosion on the Earth's surface - the biggest that we any sign of, anyway. The Vredefort Crater marks where an asteroid hit our planet 2 billion years ago, leaving a crater maybe 360km across: the oldest and largest that is still visible. The boys and girls had lectures, a walk on the Vaal River islands (to see Dome features) and finally a 7km hike to Leeukop quarry, for a swim! This video is just a short selection of the day's events. Thanks to Reinhardt Rall, teacher and mentor of the teenagers, the visit was a great success.
