Bullet for my Valentine at Oppikoppi

Here are two sample clips i put together just to show you how awesome the "Bullet for my Valentine" show was at Oppikoppi. Irwinn Herridge, Allan and myself drove from Boksburg on Wednesday, 8 Aug 2012 at 18:00 towards Northham which was the nearest town to Oppikoppi. The total distance from Bokburg to Oppi was about 300km. On our way there we had a couple of beers and just 60km before Northam Irwin's OPC decided to blow a gasket!!!! This happened at about 20:00 and we just ran outa beer. We got out in the middle of nowhere and inspected the damage. Once we came to the conclusion that the cars wasnt going anywhere we decided to hitch a ride. After about 20min of thumb juggling in the dark a couple of guys in a Land cruiser pulled over and helped us tow the car to Northam. Stressed out and eager to get to the party we decided to leave the car in Northam and to load all our gear onto the Land cruiser and make another plan to get back. When we eventually reached the venue the guys that helped us dropped us off at the entrance. Luckily my little brother and his college buddies could help us out to get to the camp spot. When we got there eventually it was 23:00 and we setup our tents and made ourselves ready for a good time. The show only started the next day so we decided to cruise around and find our bearings within the camping area. This was an epic journey by itself. When we finally got back to our campsite it was sunrise. We then decided that we couldnt fade now and carried through the morning and waited for the first band to start. Eventually they opened the gates and we went to watch the first show on Thursday 9 Aug 2012 at 12:00 noon. From there on everything was one epic mission up and down and through and back from stage to stage and bar to bar..... There was dust everywhere, most of the people there wore baklava's and looked like ninjas to avoid breathing in the dust. After the second day it got really bad when Oppikoppi filled up with more than 25000 happy campers eager to join the party. Taquila was flowing like streams from the bars, they sold more than 40,000 bottles of Jose' Quervo in shots.....CRAZZY!!! After a while everything tasted and smelled like tequila., from the drinks to the ice to the toilets.... On Saturday 11 Aug 2012 everybody woke up with a hangover......it was really cold during the night and most of us lost out voices through breathing all the dust and screaming at the performances....hung over with a cold and sore necks we carried on through the day and waited for the final acts which was Jack Parow, Seether and Bullet for my Valentine....these shows took place after 22:00 on the fourth day of the Oppikoppi festival. Everybody around us was drained, tired and sick, but still had enough energy to mosh and headbang with the best of them. It was absolutely crazy...25000 people partying together.....you can just imagine what chaos it was. If you loos your friends you wont see them again until the next morning..... Anyway, we ended up going to bed at 03:00 on Sunday morning 12 Aug 2012 only to be woken up at 07:00 to pack up the tents and get ready to mission back. Luckily we got a lift to Northam with my brother and his buddies. It took us 3 hours just to get out of the campsite and another 5 hours just to drive 12km to Northam. Everyone was tired, dirty and gatvol of all the dust and eager to get home. When we eventually got to Northam where we rushed to the bathrooms to wash our hands and faces to get some of the dirt of, we then stormed into the store and bought juice and vaciline to wash down the dust and sooth our broken and cracked lips. We checked if the OPC could start which it didnt and we decied to call Irwins brother who stays in Centurion to pick us up. This took another three hours of waiting and another 5 hours of towing the car back to Boksburg. What a mission.....but it was definitely worth it. I will definitely go again next year but be better prepared... Wooooohooooooo!!!!!!
