LNER A4 60009 The Cumbrian Mountain Express on the 18/8/12
LNER A4 60009 Union of South Africa took the Helm of the latest Cumbrian Mountain Express on the 18/8/12 . The A4 set off from Liverpool and headed for Carlisle via Farington Junction and up the Settle and Carlisle line and would return later on via the West Coast Mainline over Shap . The A4 is first seen at Hoghton Bottoms just as the unit passed me and 981smithy but we just about got away with it . 60009 is then seen working well up Rimmington Bank near Gisburn and then a few shots at Hellifield as she was taking on water . The last shot is just after Settle Junction on the climb up the Long Drag with 47798 Prince William hanging on for dear life at the rear . The return leg sees 60009 passing Little Strickland in full sun for a change . Nice to Chat to Phil again at Hoghton.
